Details SK 43 SE PARISH OF SHARDLOW AND GREAT WILNE WILNE LANE 2/217 (East Side) 9.7.75 Porter's Bridge at SK 452 305 II Canal bridge. 1770 by engineer James Brindley, with minor later repairs. Red brick on rubble plinth with stone dressings. Single segmental brick arch on stone impost blocks and tapering brick jambs with plain brick parapets, topped by chamfered stone copings. Walls curve outwards to each end and finish in plain piers. Built as part of the Trent and Mersey Canal.
