Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 20 October 2021 to remove superfluous amendment details and to reformat the text to current standards SK 21 NW 3/10006 BARTON-UNDER-NEEDWOOD TRENT AND MERSEY CANAL Bridge No 37 off Lichfield Road at SK 2057 1877 II Canal road bridge. Late C18 with repairs. Red brick with stone coping. Single span with towpath and humped back. Segmental headed arch. Swept wings terminating in piers at all four corners. Stone springing stones. Repairs include engineering brick buttress to north off-side and some concrete coping. The Trent and Mersey Canal was built between 1766 and 1777 byJames Brindley and Hugh Henshall.
