Category B Date Added 21/02/1975 Local Authority Highland Planning Authority Highland Burgh Thurso NGR ND 11769 68170 Coordinates 311769, 968170 — Macbey and Gordon, Engineers, Elgin, 1887 4 arch bridge with long SE approach causeway with small arch spanning mill lade. All coursed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. 4 keystoned segmental headed ashlar arch rings; triangular cutwaters rising as canted buttresses terminating in facetted caps incorporated in tooled ashlar coped balustrade; string course. 4 pairs cast-iron lamp standards mounted on alternate buttress caps. — Plaque on parapets records that the bridge was opened on 3rd May 1887 by Rt Hon Earl of Caithness. Also records names of engineers. This bridge cost $4,000 and replaced that of circa 1800 (Robert Tulloch, Master Mason).
