Details THORNAGE TG 03 NE 2/117 Thornage Water 13.11.78 Mill II* Water mill over River Glaven. Now derelict. Late C18/early C19. Red brick with pantiled roof. North front: 3 storeys and attic, 3 windows to 2nd and 3rd floors under segmental arches, formerly casements; tiled coping to gable parapets; dentil eaves cornice. Gable to west has a loading door on each floor, each with projecting beams which once supported a platform. Remains of a hoist above 3rd floor door. Intact machinery at the east end includes: an undershot wheel complete with paddles; a pit wheel driving a wallower and spur wheel connected to 3 sets of stones; a crown wheel driving a lay shaft via a pinion wheel; a screening machine on the first floor.
