Details SO 9324 NW SWINDON SWINDON VILLAGE 15/144 Swindon Manor 4.7.60 GV II Large detached house. C17, largely rebuilt C18, some further alteration/extension early C19. Brick. One gable square- panelled timber-framing with rendered infill, slate roof and ashlar and brick stacks. Basically rectangular plan, with 2 gables projecting forwards slightly on north. Single-storey flat-roofed C20 extension right of entrance front not of special interest. Two storeys and attic. Almost symmetrical twin-gabled, 7-windowed south front with a parapet over the central 3 bays. Central part- glazed door. Central three bays and the first floor of the gables lit by 12-pane sashes with gauged brick heads. Sash windows to right-hand gable with wide flush frames with wide glazing bars suggesting an early to mid C18 date. Sash windows to left-hand gable with similar frames and glazing bars but set slightly back from wall face. Two-light casements to gables with a single decorative black brickwork lozenge above each window. Tall casements with glazing bars with cambered-headed surrounds and decorated transoms to ground floor of both gables. Two similar windows to ground floor of right-hand return. Fenestration of return otherwise 12-pane sashes. C20 six-panel door at centre with large C20 window with glazing bars to right. C20 flat canopy with a moulded margin over door and window. Single decorative black brickwork lozenge to first floor. Timber-framed gable in left-hand return with rendered infill. Large C20 window inserted on ground floor. Two-light wooden casement above. Single axial composite ashlar stack with four diagonally set shafts with moulded cappings. Two projecting stacks, one incorporating coursed squared and dressed limestone at the base, from the timber-framed gable. Interior;
