Details A First World War memorial, constructed 1921 with later additions following the Second World War. MATERIALS AND PLAN: the memorial is constructed of granite and stands in a small enclosure bounded by stone walls. DESCRIPTION: the memorial comprises a square, three-stepped base with tapering shaft which rises to a wheel-head cross. On its north-east elevation, mounted in black lettering, it bears the inscription: TO THE MEMORY OF/ THOSE OF THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE/ GREAT WAR 1914-1918/ (NAMES)/THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE. To the south-east elevation, TO THE MEMORY OF/ THOSE OF THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE/ WORLD WAR 1939-45/ (NAMES). SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: the memorial is surrounded on three sides by a low metal chain link fence supported by metal posts and situated within a small quadrilateral Remembrance garden. This is accessed by a two door swing gate with latch and enclosed by walls of slate rubble topped by granite coping stones.
