Category B Date Added 05/10/1971 Local Authority Highland Planning Authority Highland Parish Kiltarlity And Convinth NGR NH 45347 39893 Coordinates 245347, 839893 — 1826, using Norman style, with alterations and additions by Peter Paul Pugin 1881. Symmetrical rectangular gable church orientated E/W, with slightly lower and shorter 5-bay aisles N and S. White harled, with broad splayed tooled ashlar margins and dressings. Round-headed entrance in centre of W gable with similar entrances in N and S gable returns. Flanking lancets to W entrance; 3 round-headed paired-light lattice-pane windows above, the centre being taller. Similar windows in gables and 5-bay flanks. Circular window (1881) with geometric tracery in centre E gable with small occulus above. Cross finial at E gable apex, square stumpy finials elsewhere; slate roof. Interior; spacious interior with aisles divided from nave by Neo-Norman arcade; small gallery at W with simple cast-iron balustrade. Ornate Gothic reredos (1881) flanked by niches with statues; Gothic canopied tomb chest in N wall of chancel (1881). Late 19th century pews with "poppy head" ends. Mural memorials. Burial ground; simple walled burial ground with 19th and 20th century tombs. Lovat burial enclosure to W of church. — Ecclesiastical building in use as such. "Neat Roman Catholic chapel erected a few years ago by Lord Lovat at considerable expense" (1841). Embellishments such as reredos and table tomb by Peter Paul Pugin, 1881, executed as memorial to Thomas, Lord Lovate (d. 1875). Carving of reredos and tomb by Boulton of Cheltenham.
