Category C Date Added 04/12/1984 Local Authority North Lanarkshire Planning Authority North Lanarkshire Burgh Coatbridge NGR NS 73374 65216 Coordinates 273374, 665216 — 1843 rectangular-plan 4-bay church re-fronted and interior re-modelled by J H O'Donoghue, 1870-1 Gothic. Gabled main (west) elevation built of ashlar-remainder rubble- built. West elevation: pointed openings mostly hood-moulded with columned jambs and bell capitals; 3-light window above gabled central porch; squat stepped angle buttresses with (unusual) cast-iron colonnettes at upper level with foliated capitals by Messrs Mossman of Glasgow, pinnacles above gablet skews; apex cross finial; slate roof. Vestry and hall adjoin chancel at east. Interior chancel added by O'Donoghue, narrow chancel arch with engaged columns with foliated capitals; leaded windows inserted between 1873 and 1881; 3-light chancel window by Adam and Small, 1881; 3-light west window by W & J J Keir, 1879; some other windows by Keir. Font and pulpit both stone-built and octagonal latter by Kennedy and O'Donoghue. Low ashlar retaining wall with simple stone piers and iron railings. — Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Re-opened 30.4.1871.
