Simple rectangular church orientated E/W with slightly advanced N and S gables suggesting shallow cruciform plan. Gothic detailing. Dark coursed rubble, contrasting tooled sandstone dressings; harl-pointed N elevation. E entrance gable with shallow advanced centre bay with pointed-headed doorway and window above; similar narrow lancets light set back outer bays. Centre square bellcote housing single bell surmounted by facetted spire with cross finial. Long 3-bay S elevation with Y-tracery windows in outer bays and 3-light geometric tracery in larger centre gable window. 3-light window in E elevation lighting chancel. Blind pointed-headed window in centre of long N elevation. Simple Y-tracery and leaded lattice-pane glazing in all windows except S gable. Small pinnacles at N, S, E apices; slate roofs. INTERIOR: simple, lofty interior with shallow vaulting meeting at crossing. Plain late l9th century pews; circa 1900 tub font on low cluster-column base; chancel mural memorial (1833) in style of William Robertson, Elgin. Late 19th century stained glass in centre S window. — Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Mural memorial in chancel to James Wilson of Cairnbanno, Aberdeenshire, died at Rose Acre Cottage, Portsoy, 27 October, 1833; he was a member of the Wilson family who served the Earls of Seafield as factors. Other members of the same family are commemorated by the late l9th century stained glass window. Also memorial to Arthur Abercrombie of Glassaugh, d.1859, and his wife, Elizabeth, d.1838.
