Date Added 21/05/2002 Type Ecclesiastical: church Local Authority Aberdeenshire Parish St Cyrus NGR NO 75048 64779 Coordinates 375048, 764779 — This monument consists of the remains of the late medieval church of St. Cyrus. The remains consist of the South Transept of the church which was later used as a burial aisle for the Porteous family. The building has seen successive alterations. It is largely complete to head height and retains the arch at its north end where it connected with the church. This arch is now partly blocked and access is via a door in the south wall. No other visible traces of the church survive. The building is rectangular, measuring approximately 7m NS by 6m. The area to be scheduled extends 5 metres out from the walls. The area measures 17m N-S by 16m E-W and is marked in red on the accompanying map. Excluded from the scheduling are those burial lairs where burial rights exist and those monuments outside the building which are above ground.
