Granite square-plan plinth; bronze relief table to E face; cornice; surmounting bronze figure facing E. — Railings enclosing statue, as depicted in old photographs have now been removed. E face inscription reads "In memory of the officers, noncommissioned officers and men of the Royal Scots Fusiliers who died in the campaigns in South Africa 1879-81, the Soudan 1884-5, Burma 1885-9, Tirah 1897 and South Africa 1899-1902. Erected by the people of Ayrshire, Wigtownshire, the Stewartry and Dumfriesshire and by the 1st and 2nd Battalions and 3rd Militia Battalions and 1st and 2nd Volunteer Battalions, Royal Scots Fusiliers, the 1st Ayr and Galloway Volunteer Artillery and the 4th Battalion King's Own Scottish Borderers.
