Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 15/09/2017 SD 9951 1/58 HIGH STREET War Memorial GV II War memorial, unveiled 1922 by James Henry Sellers incorporating two bronzes by the sculptor John Cassidy. White stone. The complex moulded plinth is of eight unequal sides incorporating concave and convex lines with bronze plaques of names and a carved inscription, with a raised section supporting a kneeling bronze figure breaking a sword over the knee. Rising behind the figure is a tall column with a hollow-sided triangular section, the column surmounted by a bronze figure of winged victory holding a garland aloft. Listing NGR: SD9903751854 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 1 February 2017.
