Background
History
It is operated by the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust, a registered charity known from 2013 to 2022 as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Heritage Trust. The Trust was formally Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service Preservation Group, who can trace their origins back to 1995. The Old Fire Station was empty for 52 years before the museum opened and the building is basically as it was when the Fire Station closed in 1960. The Museum and Heritage Centre opened on the morning of June 28, 2012.
