Details SE 32 NW ROTHWELL OULTON LANE LS26 (north side), Rothwell 5/98 War Memorial II War memorial. 1920's. Sandstone and polished granite, with granite statue. Three square steps, square 2-stage base with carved wreath on lower stage, polished pedestal, of square section tapering slightly, moulded sandstone cap surmounted by life-sized statue of infantryman in cap standing with hands on butt of rifle, the muzzle on his foot. Inscriptions "HONOUR THE FALLEN" at at the top, and on the pedestal IsiRE,'4T WAiR "THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918" and names an all 4 sides (96 in all); added on the base "1939-1945" and 40 names. Listing NGR: SE3473028203 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 10 August 2017.
