Details BOLTBY - SE 48 NE 4/9 RAVENSTHORPE MANOR - II House. Early-mid C19 with additions of probably mid C19 and 1905. Ashlar, blue slate roof. 2 Storeys, 3 bays having 2-bay block with rear wing added to right later in C19 and another block added to rear left corner 1905 (not of special interest). garden front: plinth, lst-floor cill band, eaves band, oversailing eaves. Windows are 16-pane sashes, mostly with original glazing and on ground floor taller, having apron panels and eaved architraves. Central bay of main range breaks forward and is rusticated on the ground floor having a pedimented entrance with 3 steps up to 6-panel double door and dentil cornice which continues, undentilled, to either side over the flanking side-lights set in recessed panels. The left bay of the right-hand addition also breaks forward, continuing the rhythm, and has a tripartite window on each floor, each with a 16-pane sash flanked by 8-pane sashes. The architrave of each is corniced and pedimented, the ground-floor architrave with frieze and triangular pediment, the lst-floor architrave with corbels below, jamb blocks and segmental pediment. Roof hipped over main range. Ridge stacks rebuilt in white brick with stone cornices. Left return: steps up to French window on right, sash with glazing bars on left and two similar windows above flanking a recess. Interior: entrance hall has chequered floor, panelled doors and round-arched niches with trellis-patterned doors. Dog-leg open-string stair has wave-moulded treads, twist-balusters and panelled, square-sectioned newels with added caps.
