Details First and Second World War memorial. Erected 1920 with the names of the Fallen of the Second World War added after 1945. MATERIALS: Carved in granite. DESCRIPTION: The monument comprises a simple granite obelisk, which stands on top of a slightly tapering square plinth and cap stone. The plinth, in turn, stands on top of a three-stepped square base, and the monument is partially enclosed by a semi-circular stone wall. The enclosure is fronted by iron railings and accessed via stone steps. The plinth is inscribed on two sides with the names of the Fallen from the First World War. The top steps are inscribed “LEST WE FORGET” and 1914 – 1918. A third face of the monument is inscribed with the names of the Fallen from the Second World War, above the dates 1939 – 1945.
