Category C Date Added 04/09/2003 Local Authority Perth And Kinross Planning Authority Perth And Kinross Burgh Blairgowrie And Rattray NGR NO 18185 45492 Coordinates 318185, 745492 — Dated 1912, converted to halls mid 1960s. Rectangular-plan, gothic-detailed former Free Church with 4-bay aisless nave and 3-stage angle tower. Narrow bull-faced bands of red sandstone with dressed ashlar margins. Pointed-arch openings; traceried and trefoil-headed windows; hoodmoulds with label stops, some floreate; 3-stage saw-tooth coped buttresses; voussoirs, stone mullions, chamfered reveals and raked cills. NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: stone-cross finialled gable with steps up to deeply moulded doorpiece, deep-set 2-leaf boarded timber door with decorative ironwork brackets and dated tympanum, hoodmoulded square-headed tripartite windows with trefoil-headed lights in flanking bays and large hoodmoulded 3-light geometric-traceried window above. Full-height pinnacled buttress to right with tripartite window as above to low set-back bay beyond and tower (see below) projecting at outer left. E ANGLE TOWER: 1st stage of squat tower with modern door to SE and small window to NE, similar windows to these 2 elevations at 2nd stage, and larger louvered bipartite openings to NE, SE and SW at 3rd stage, all surmounted by continuous hoodmould giving way to battlemented parapet and set-back spire with decorative cast-iron weathervane, rooflight to SW. SE ELEVATION: 4 windows with dividing buttresses to nave elevation, that to left of centre converted to door, now (2002) blocked. Low piend-roofed bay projecting at outer left, with boarded timber door and 2-part fanlight on right return. NW ELEVATION: 3 windows to right and projecting gabled bay to left. SW ELEVATION: large window to gablehead over low
