Category B Date Added 04/11/1971 Local Authority Dumfries And Galloway Planning Authority Dumfries And Galloway Parish Lochrutton NGR NX 91244 73558 Coordinates 291244, 573558 — Robert Carlish, joiner at Terregles and Alex Robinson of Kirkgunzeon, contractor. Built 1819 on site of earlier church, repaired 1889. Simple hall church of coursed granite with rusticated quoins, painted. 3-bay nave, pointed-arch windows with raised margins and small-pane glazing with intersecting Y-traceried heads. Projecting porch with vestry off to W. Pointed-arch door to E flanked by aedicular marble war memorials. At apex of E gable, pyramidal red sandstone bellcote dated 1819. Bell dated 1764. Tile cresting to roof ridge. INTERIOR: panelled screen at E end to give narthex. Panel-backed pews arranged to give centre and side aisles. Modern communion table, font and pulpit. Church yard with many 18th and 19th century tombstones; drystone walls, plain cast-iron gates. — Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Church built to a general design by Walter Newall, modified by Carlish and Robinson.
