Category A Date Added 01/02/1972 Local Authority Fife Planning Authority Fife Burgh Cupar NGR NO 37302 14336 Coordinates 337302, 714336 — 1415. 3 bays of N aisle of nave with cylindrical and haxagonal piers with NW tower 18' x 22-1/2' x 69' h; top stage rebuilt, 44' elongated broach spire and parapet of Renaissance balusters added by Rev Wm Scott 1620 (dated). Repaired by John Dawson, mason 1806. — Ecclesiastical building in use as such. The Heritors' Minutes of the 1785 period are missing and a complete set of the Parish Magazine articles could not be obtained. A competition in which the Messrs Buchan of North Berwick were successful was held, but Bell's plan was the cheapest. His church gave a great deal of trouble the first 60 years and Heritors' Records are full of references to remedial work. George Angus was consulted in 1828; The porch was repaired and possibly extended in 18<> in which year Robert Hutchison produced a scheme for enlarging the church; St Michael's was built instead In 1837 his scheme for repairs was rejected as was another by James Smith in favour of that proposed by a Mr Scott.
