Details NEWPORT PAGNELL SP 8743 HIGH STREET 645/1/10018 War Memorial 17-FEB-00 GV II War memorial. Inaugurated 17th October 1920, restored 1999. Ashlar. Tall octagonal drum base with moulded cornice and foot moulding, set on an octagonal plinth cut with a shallow Gothic inscription. On the drum a base carries an octagonal broached shaft and carved head of traditional form, with aedicules on 4 faces with the Crucifixion, St Paul, St Peter and the Madonna. Applied panels on the drum list the names of victims of the Great and subsequent wars. The upper section of the drum, and the surrounding low stone wall and iron railings, are new. Listing NGR: SP8776143963 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 11 January 2017.
