Battered red sandstone ashlar monument upon 3-step stone base. Square section, gently tapering shaft with cornice, dome & cap and ball finial. Miniature Venetian-style window recess with bronze relief plaque of Provost George Scott and inscription "Erected by subscription in recognition of public improvements initiated and carried out by George Scott, Provost of Montrose 1887-1890." — One of 3 pieces of public 'sculpture' on Mid Links the others being the War Memorial and a monument and drinking fountain. DW Galloway was from Brechin.
