Details RENDCOMB RENDCOMB SP 00 NW 6/257 Mill House GV II Former mill and miller's house. Mill: early C18. House: C18 extended C19. Limestone rubble; red tile roof to mill; concrete tile to outbuildings; slate roof and red tile to the house; stone slate and red tile to the C19 extension; ashlar and brick stacks. Rectangular plan to mill with rectangular C18 miller's house at right angles at the south-east corner; 'L'-shaped C19 extension to the gable end of the latter. Mill: 3 storeys. House: 2 storeys. C19 extension: 1 1/2 storeys. -.,Undershot mill with round-headed archway with keystone off-centre left; garage doors to the left; C19 plank door with a segmental brick head to the right, flanked by a 4-pane light within a flat-chamfered surround and a 12-pane fixed casement with a timber lintel; blocked doorway with timber lintel to the right of the latter; 2-light flat-chamfered stone- mullioned casement upper right with a C19 plank door with a timber lintel to the left; 4-light window to the left with a timber lintel. C18 house with single 16-pane sash with dressed stone surround to the ground floor; 3 two-light casements with glazing bars with dressed stone lintels and jambstones to the first floor; gable of C19 extension projects forwards to the right with 6-pane sash and vertical glazing bars to the ground floor and gable. Panelled door with glazed canopy on brackets to the right of the projecting gable. Six-pane sash to the right of the door. Two- light half-dormer to the upper floor; two 6-pane casements to the gable end facing the road. Gable-end and lateral stacks. Interior: The mill retains its machinery with a cast iron mill wheel; gearing; shutes and 3 mill stones. Mill wheel protrudes up through the first floor.
