Details BRISTOL ST5673SE CLIFTON DOWN, Clifton 901-1/7/755 (South East side) 08/01/59 Memorial to the 79th Regiment II* War memorial. Erected 1766 by General Draper, moved 1882. Portland stone and purple slate. Rectangular plinth with angle buttresses, surmounted by a sarcophagus with scrolled brackets at the corners, and an urn with a flame. HISTORICAL NOTE: erected in the garden of Manilla House by its owner, the General, to commemorate the Indian part of the Seven Years War 1759-62. Moved when Manilla Road was built. A very early war memorial. Listing NGR: ST5698373276 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 15 December 2016.
