Category B Date Added 26/06/1986 Local Authority Dumfries And Galloway Planning Authority Dumfries And Galloway Parish Durisdeer NGR NS 88416 07026 Coordinates 288416, 607026 — Dated 1836. Upright slab monument set on hill slope; corniced and pedimented, with urn finial, inscribed panel on south face. Painted ashlar. Enclosed by simple iron railings on rubble-built base. — Inscribed "Sacred to the memory of Daniel MacMichael who suffered martyrdom here by Sir James Dalziel, AD 1685". Erected while Dalveen farm was being built. MacMichael is buried at Durisdeer; his sword is held in Greyfriars' Church, Edinburgh.
