Category B Date Added 03/08/1971 Local Authority Dumfries And Galloway Planning Authority Dumfries And Galloway Parish Langholm NGR NY 37935 84686 Coordinates 337935, 584686 — Robert Howe, architect. Erected 1835-6. Monument, prominently sited on summit of Whita Hill. Tall obelisk on corniced and inscribed square base, raised on steps and enclosed by spear-head cast-iron railings. Grey ashlar. — Prominent landmark. First stone laid 16 September 1835. Erected in memory of Sir John Malcolm (1769-1833). Inscription identifies architect and provides date.
