Heritage listing
Details The war memorial cross stands in the churchyard of the Church of All Saints (Grade II*-listed), in close proximity to a number of listed monuments including the medieval churchyard cross. The war memorial takes the form of a rough-hewn granite wheel-head cross. A reversed sword is carved in low relief on the front face of the cross. The cross shaft rises from a tapering pedestal, that stands on a stone step. The inscription, in applied metal lettering, begins at the foot of the cross shaft, reading TO THE/ GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN/ MEMORY OF with the commemorated names listed below on the front face of the pedestal. The 13 names, recorded with rank and regiment, are followed by the inscription “THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE.” This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 16 December 2016.
