Category C Date Added 25/02/1994 Local Authority Dumfries And Galloway Planning Authority Dumfries And Galloway Parish Leswalt NGR NW 97341 63475 Coordinates 197341, 563475 — Probably late 18th century, or earlier in origin. Range of former corn mill buildings. Slightly lower range to N. Sited on falling ground. Rubble; whin slab lintels. Coped skews to N. Grey slates; partly reslated to E. Brick stacks. W ELEVATION: variety of openings. Door to right. Door, with window to left and above, at centre. Door to left, flanked by 2 windows to left and 1 to right; gabled dormerheaded window above. N ELEVATION: window to right at 1st floor. E ELEVATION: lower range recessed to left, with loft door. S ELEVATION: window in gablehead. No remaining machinery. Remains of lade system to N, including 2 small stone arched bridges carrying road over lade. INTERIOR: S section converted to hall/schoolroom, lined with boarding in late 19th century and N section converted to 2 cottages simultaneously with internal divisions and fireplaces still evident. — The "Milns of Galdenoch" are mentioned in 1794 (Agnew, p343). The mill is marked on the OS Map of 1847 as "Mill of Little Galdenoch (corn)".
