Details LAXFIELD 1221/0/10004 31-MAY-01 War Memorial GV II War memorial. 1918-19. Ashlar on rusticated stone plinth. Classical style in the form of a Roman funerary monument. A square-plan rusticated stone plinth acts as the base of the monument which has pilasters at the corners supporting pediments with carved ribboned wreaths in the middle. Above, in the centre, an urn from which rises the eternal flame. In the panels below between the pilasters are inscriptions recording the names of the Fallen in both World Wars. A well-detailed war memorial in an unusual form. Listing NGR: TM2922172296 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register.
