Details First World War memorial, erected c1920. MATERIALS: rock-faced granite. DESCRIPTION: the war memorial stands in a hedged enclosure on the north side of High Street. It comprises a single-step base, a roughly trapezoidal plinth and a tall shaft which tapers in rectangular section to a Celtic wheel-head cross bearing the relief carving of a Sword of Sacrifice. The south face of the plinth bears the dedicatory inscription in leaded letters and reads: 'TO THE / GLORY OF GOD / AND A MEMORIAL OF THE PART / TAKEN BY / KETTERINGHAM / IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914 - 1919'. This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 5 June 2017.
