Details SHEFFIELD SK38NW NEEPSEND LANE 784-1/5/527 Hillfoot Bridge II Road bridge spanning River Don. 1885, altered 1912. Ashlar. 3 segmental arches with heavily rusticated voussoirs and moulded cutwaters with round ends. Dentilled string course. Parapet wall with chamfered coping, and rounded corners added in 1912. Pedestals above the cutwaters. At each corner, larger pedestals with dentilled cornices, topped with incomplete cast-iron gas lamps. The lamps were contributed by the proprietors of the nearby Neepsend Gasworks (not included). (City Council, quoting newspaper report, 1912).
