Details SZ 39 NW BOLDRE CHURCH LANE 14/6 Heywood Manor 7.8.86 GV II Small country house. One wing remains of C17 house, incorporated into present house 1903-5 by R Blomfield. Brick, old plain tile roof with lead ridges and stone slate eaves courses. H-plan with double pile 3 bay central part so wings only projecting slightly, 2 storey and attic wings, either end, 3 bays long. Front has central half-glazed door in doorcase of pilasters surmounted by cut brackets, supporting shell hood. To LH 2 cross-windows under rubbed arches, and over and to LH 1,2 or 3 light casements. To RH large stair window of 4 x 3 lights except that in centre at bottom is one large arched light. To LH wing 4-light casements, lower one transomed and under rubbed arch. RH wing is end of old house and has 2 light casements. 2-light hip-roofed dormers on wings and 4 on central roof. All windows leaded. Roofs hipped. Behind ridge in centre 6-octagonal-shaft stack, 3-shaft similar above LH centre bay, and on old RH wing 4-diamond-shaft stack. For interior see Country Life; 1926;pp 350-6, and NMR.
