Details A First World War memorial erected c.1920, altered following the Second World War. MATERIALS The memorial is built from grey and pink granite. DETAILS The memorial takes the form of a small Celtic-style wheel cross atop a tall, tapering shaft. The main section of the base is in pink granite and bears the inscription, "LEST WE FORGET/ THESE MEN MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE/ (NAMES)/ R.I.P". To the side, a further inscription reads, "SERVED IN H.M FORCES/ DURING THE GREAT WAR, 1914 - 1918/ (NAMES)". The base stands on a stepped plinth with the inscription, "1939 - 1945/ (NAMES)". This List entry has been amended to add the source for War Memorials Online. This source was not used in the compilation of this List entry but is added here as a guide for further reading, 18 January 2017.
