Details ST4614 11/72 CHISELBOROUGH CP CHURCH LANE (North side) Group of six monuments in churchyard immediately south of chancel, Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul GV II Group of six C18 and C19 headstones. a) Langdon headstone, one metre south of chancel. Early C19. Ham stone slab, about one metre wide x 1.5 metres tall, flat top: 2 semi-circular arched panels with carved surrounds, 2 angel heads at top. Commemorates Charles Langdon, died 1805. b) Taylor headstone. 3 metres south of chancel. Early C19. Ham stone slab about 750 mm wide x 1300 mm high, with multi-curved top; single panel with Adamesque urn at head. Commemorates John Taylor died 1801. c) In row west of a) and b): unidentified headstone, one metre south of chancel. Early C18. Ham stone slab about 600 mm wide x 900 mm high; shouldered semi-circular arched top enclosing angel head with side scrolls, single panel with carved frame. Inscription not readable. d) Burges headstone 2 metres south of chancel. Mid C18. Ham stone slab about one metre wide x 1.25 metres high, flat top: two panels with carved outer frame and short length of centre drop, 2 semi-circular recesses with angel heads at top, carved to considerable depth. Commemorates John Burges, died 1755 and others of family. e) Unidentified headstone about 3 metres south of chancel. Early C18. Ham stone slab, about 700 mm wide x 800 mm high; swan neck pediment top with added scrolls, enclosing angel head, single panel with carved surround. Commemorates William H---- , died 1720. f) Rogers headstone about 1 metres south of chancel. Early C18. Ham stone slab, about 700 mm wide x 900 mm high, semi-circular top enclosing angel head, with added scrolls, single panel with moulded surround. Commemorates Charles Rogers, died 1733.
