Details BARRINGTON MIDDLE ROAD, SP 2012-2112 Little Barrington Village 11/123 Group of seven monuments in the churchyard of the Church of St Peter c3m east of the church path GV II John Browne chest tomb, unidentifed chest tomb and five headstones. Limestone. a) Chest tomb to John Brown died 1706 and other members of the family. This tomb forms the southern edge of the group. Moulded plinth. Rectangular inscription plaque with a moulded margin on the south side with marginal panels with single foliate scrolls and small winged angels' heads. Thick capping with moulded margin. b) Unidentified headstone c2m north of the John Browne monument, with a partially legible inscription. C18. Moulded segmental head. Single winged angel's head at top. Flowing foliate scrollwork surround to inscription. c) Unidentified chest tomb c0.7m north of the latter. Possibly C16-early C17. No identifiable inscription panel. Single large quatrefoils on each side, all but one with a central boss. Thick capping with moulded margin. Two pairs of holes, one at either end of the capping, suggesting there may once have been two probably metal objects upstanding at either end of the capping stone. d) Large headstone c0.8m north of the latter, to Richard Harper. C18. Single winged angel's head at top with foliate scrollwork at top and down the sides. e) Unidentified headstone c2m east of the unidentifed chest tomb. C18. Double scroll forms the top of the tomb. Single winged angel's head below. Rectangular inscription plaque with moulded margin interrupted by the angel's head at top. f&g) Pair of headstones c2-4m north-east of the unidentified chest tomb. Right-hand headstone to Giles Penfold, died 1787. Simple headstone with single winged angel's head at top. Left-hand headstone. C18. Illegible inscrip
