Details ST51NW CHILTHORNE DOMER CP MAIN STREET (West side) 3/54 Group of 3 monuments in churchyard, south of chancel Church of St Mary - GV II Group of three C17 and C18 chest tombs. a) Unidentified monument about one metre south of chancel chest tomb. Circa 1700. Ham stone. Moulded plinth; semi-circular arched panels, one each end and two each flank, with impost, keystones and dentilling around arch, no frieze; clad-recta coving to heavy hipped top. Commemorates, amongst others, Mary ---- died 1722, other inscriptions badly worn. b) Fanton monument about 2 metres south of chancel: chest tomb. C17. Ham stone. Moulded plinth; semi-circular arched panels, one each end and two each flank, with insists, keystones and dentilling around arch, no frieze; cyma-recta coving to henry hipped top. Commemorates Thomas Fanton, Gent, died 1668. c) Hankills Monument about 4 metres south of chancel: chest tomb. Early C18. Ham stone moulded plinth; semi-circular arched panels, one each end and two each flank, with imposts, keystones and dentilling around arch, no frieze; cyma recta coving to heavy hipped top.
