Gothic, orientated north-south. Coursed rubble, ashlar dressings. Recessed centre door in north gable with pointed, moulded jambs and nook shafts; similar smaller doors in outer bays, all linked by continuous hoodmould. Large hoodmoulded geometric traceried window above in finialled gable, flanking buttressed square tower to left with long lancet in north and east elevations, corbelled band course rising to slender octagonal spire, with long louvred and gabletted lancets; groined stone elongated domed roof with small terminal spire and weather vane. Similar truncated tower at right bay with gables above band course. 5-bay buttressed flanks with pointed headed windows with cusped tracery all linked by continuous hoodmould; long gallery windows with geometric tracery rise through eaves in gablets. Large rose window in centre, south gable. Steeply pitched slate roof. Interior; galleried interior; stained glass by James Ballantine, Edinburgh. Square chamfered ashlar gatepiers with pyramidal caps; low coped rubble retaining wall with cast-iron spearhead railings. — Ecclesiastical building in use as such. Marble shafted memorial within church grounds to Rev John Kennedy (1884) Minister and his wife (1819-96) by D & A Davidson, Inverness dated 1886. Replaced 18<> former Free Church in Castle Street.
