Details This List entry was subject to a Minor Enhancement on 30/03/2017 TA 0928 NW, 680-1/21/266 KINGSTON UPON HULL, PARAGON SQUARE (East side), First World War Memorial and attached railings GV II War memorial, by sculptor T. Harold Hughes, 1923. Erected 1924. Granite and Portland stone with bronze railings. Stepped base carrying a pylon-shaped monument with moulded plinth and plain cornice. The front face has an attached credence, and above this an inscription and a coat of arms in a wreath. In front of the pylon, a separate tapered pedestal. On either side, a sloping coped wall, returned at the ends to form square enclosures, and ending in pedestals topped with urns. In front, low bronze railings enclosing a garden, with posts in the form of lions' heads. Listing NGR: TA0929828808 This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register.
