Details The memorial stands on the south edge of the large Green. It comprises a simple limestone cross, c4m high, with an inverted sword carved on both the front and rear faces. The shaft rises from a three-stage octagonal plinth on a square base. On the front face of the plinth is inscribed THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918/ LEST WE FORGET. The names of the fallen occupy other faces of the plinth. Beneath, on the top tier of the base, is inscribed 1939-1945. The modern flagged surround to the memorial is excluded from the listing. This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 17 January 2017.
