Category A Date Added 12/01/1971 Local Authority South Lanarkshire Planning Authority South Lanarkshire Parish Douglas NGR NS 83467 30955 Coordinates 283467, 630955 — Thomas Brock, sculptor. Erected 1892. Ashlar plinth, with inscription, on stepped bullfaced ashlar base, supports bronze statue of James, Earl of Angus. Cameronian badge is on east face of plinth. Enclosed by spear-head iron railings. — Inscription explains that statue commemorates the 200th anniversary of the raising of the Cameronian regiment by the Earl of Angus, which was mustered nearby.
