Details CARLTON AND CHELLINGTON FELMERSHAM ROAD SP 95 NE 5/93 Diocesan Youth Centre, St. Nicholas Church (formerly listed as Parish Church of St. Nicholas) 13.7.1964 - I Church of coursed limestone rubble situated on a hillside overlooking the present village. The earliest work is C13. The two bay chancel and both N. and S. aisles are Early English. The N. aisle has a contemporary doorway within a gable mould and is of two moulded orders with a line of dog tooth and pairs of shafts in the jambs. The four bay nave was rebuilt in C14. The N.arcade is slightly the earlier and has piers of four engaged shafts. Above each arcade is a C15 clerestorey with three similar windows to each side, each of two trefoiled lights under a square head. C20 roof. C14 W.tower of three stages with clasping buttresses to W. angles. Broach spire with two tiers of lucarnes.
