Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 25 March 2025 to update the Name and Address and reformat the text to current standards SJ 3990 29/1078 ST OSWALD'S STREET L13 No 43 (Formerly listed as Convent of Mercy, previously listed with St Oswald's Schools) 26.6.52 G.V. II Convent. c.1855. Possibly by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin. Stone with slate roof. Various ranges to north and east of courtyard, those to north of one storey, those to east of two storeys. Corridor runs along south side, ending in gable with segmental pointed entrance with hood mould on street. Wall runs along street between entrance and north ranges and has gate at north end. Facade to street possibly altered, two bays with gable has segmental-headed windows with casements and tympana; gabled bay to right has three-light window, probably later. North facade of six bays, three-light windows with small-paned iron casements between deep buttresses. East facade has two storeys of windows of two ogee-headed lights; and gable with first floor two-light pointed window. Entrance in low porch at north-east angle.
