Details Standing on open moorland, the war memorial comprises a narrow, round-headed gritstone pillar c2m high, with rough diagonal tooling. At the top, the Guards’ Fusiliers badge is carved in relief in a small panel. Below that a panel occupying the centre of the pillar’s face carries the inscription FOR/ REMEMBRANCE./ GUARDSMEN/ ROBBIE LEGGOTT/ KILLED IN ACTION/ 1916./ ALF COCKERILL/ DIED OF WOUNDS/ 1920./ DUTY 1914. The pillar is set in a low stone base. The list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 4 July 2016. This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 1 February 2017.
