Category B Date Added 29/06/1978 Local Authority Fife Planning Authority Fife Parish Collessie NGR NO 28612 13190 Coordinates 328612, 713190 — Dated 1609. Whin rubble wall acting as retaining wall around south part of churchyard. Incorporates ashlar mural monument with cornice, 1/2 round pilasters and inset panel. Inscription denouncing Romish custom of burial within the church fabric. Medieval stone with badly weathered figure under arch, inserted below. Elevated path runs south from churchyard gates to reach cottages Lomond View and Braehead. Wall and gates towards road included. — Mural monument of 1609 refers to family burying-ground of Sir James Melville, courtier to Mary Queen of Scots. There were four private enclosures in the churchyard (Kinnear, Rossie, Melville and Bogie).
