Background

History

The west tower was built in the 12th century, with a spire being added in the 13th century. The main body of the church dates from the 15th century.

Architecture

The church is largely built of dolomitic conglomerate. The buttresses also contain some red sandstone. It was originally covered with slates, but this had been replaced with lead plates by the 1950s. These in turn were replaced with copper sheets in 1966. The clock was added to the tower in 1947 as a memorial to the men of the village who died in the Second World War.
