Details ST24SW STOCKLAND BRISTOL CP STOCKLAND BRISTOL VILLAGE 3/86 Stockland Manor, No 2 and No 4 (Channel View) - GV II Country house, now divided into 3 dwellings, bated on a stone tablet 1860, for Thomas Daniel the rector of the parish. Coursed and squared blue lias rubble, Bath Stone dressings, slate roofs with fish tail bands, moulded stone eaves cornices with rosettes, crested ridges, octagonal ashlar stacks, singly, paired and in groups of 3 and 4. Muscular Gothic: roughly square on plan. Two storeys with basement and attic, 1:2:1 bays to entrance frontage, first and fourth bays projecting under gables with copings and finials; 2 and 3-light stone mullioned and transomed windows, each light with a 4-centred heat, stopped labels. Canted oriel to left of first floor of 4 lights in siailar style, parapet pierced by a quatrefoil interlace. Moulded band at first floor level, moulded sill band to first floor; to right of frontage a projecting stack with offsets. Four-centred arch door opening, in a dressed stone surround of 2 orders, in fourth bay from left, quatrefoil to each spandrel, stopped label; paired ribbed and studded doors. Virtually complete interior; broad well staircase with a lantern, turned and twisted balusters, moulded handrail newel posts with large finials; 2 ceilings to ground floor with elaborate coffering; many fireplaces in Gothic style, some blocked, further lesser features.
