Details First and Second World War memorial. Erected c1920 with the names of the Fallen of the Second World War added after 1945. MATERIALS: carved in Portland stone. DESCRIPTION: Brockdish war memorial is located in the churchyard of St Peter and St Paul Church, Church Lane, Brockdish, Norfolk. It is prominently situated by the churchyard path near to the church porch. It comprises a gothic floriated cross on a slender, tapering, collared, octagonal shaft, atop a tall, four-sided plinth with gabled panels, on a three-stepped octagonal base. A slanted footstone was added in front of the plinth on top of the uppermost octagonal base step, in memory of the fallen of the Second World War. The plinth bears the inscriptions in incised and black-painted lettering. INSCRIPTION: the inscription reads: TO / THE GLORY OF GOD / AND / IN HONOURED MEMORY OF / THOSE WHO FELL IN THE / GREAT WAR 1914 – 18/ THEIR NAME WILL LIVE FOR / EVERMORE // (NAMES)/ / ALSO / TO THOSE WHO FELL IN / THE SECOND WORLD WAR / 1939 – 45 / (NAMES).
