Details BUXTON SK0573SE THE SQUARE, Pavilion Gardens 616-1/4/105 (South West side) 21/12/70 Bridge over River Wye (Formerly Listed as: BUXTON GARDENS Bridge over River Wye) GV II Bridge. Late C19. Manufactured by H Bailey and Sons Co, Manchester. Painted cast-iron and coursed dressed stone piers. West and east sides each have 4 piers with moulded cornices supporting the main shallow arch with pendant, flanked by 2 smaller side arches, all with trellised spandrels and balustrade. Detailing includes rosette bosses to trellis. There are 2 square section verticals to the balustrade with shallow caps and a moulded top rail. Round headed segmental arches support the structure. This bridge is an ornamental feature of the Pavilion Gardens originally laid out by Sir Joseph Paxton for the Duke of Devonshire.
