Details NETHER WHITACRE DOG LANE SP29SW (North side) 5/96 Bridge, cartshed, trough and 11/11/52 pump, and outer retaining wall on W side of moat at Whitacre Hall (Formerly listed as Farm buildings at Whitacre Hall) GV II Bridge, cartshed, trough, pump and wall. C19 and earlier. Mainly coursed sandstone rubble, bridge of coursed and dressed sandstone blocks. The bridge spans the western arm of the moat; it has a single segmental arch with chamfered edge and raised key and a plain parapet on the south side; the north side has been built up with a high rubble wall. The moat retaining wall is carried up as the rear wall of the single-storey cartshed which faces west. This latter has been converted into stables, the openings being blocked with brick. There are 7 stable doors. At the right hand gable end are 2 single-light windows with chamfered surrounds; these may be medieval. Also at this end is an attached stone horse trough and cast iron pump with fluted head. Listing NGR: SP2411493722 Legacy The contents of this record have been generated from a legacy data system.
