Reason for designation: Part of an important group of canal structures at the former Garthmyl wharf. History: The Montgomeryshire Canal was built as far as Garthmyl 1794-1797, and extended in 1815. This bridge is the first to be built as part of the extension of the canal to Newtown. Exterior: Red brick single arch span, with blue brick to parapet (representing a later rebuilding); rusticated stone string course at foot of parapet. Location: Carries the former main Newtown-Welshpool road over the Montgomery Canal immediately north of the Nags Head Public House.
