Category B Date Added 10/12/1991 Supplementary Information Updated 01/11/2023 Local Authority Dundee Planning Authority Dundee Parish Murroes NGR NO 41683 34493 Coordinates 341683, 734493 — Designed by Scott Sutherland and produced by H.H Martyn & Co. of Cheltenham, 1959, inscribed and dated. Bronze statue of soldier of the Black Watch on a polished ashlar sandstone pedestal, raised upon a dais approached by seven, wide brick and concrete steps and enclosed by low concrete coped rubble walls. — The inscription on the plaque at the front of the plinth reads To the memory of all ranks of the 4th and 5th Dundee and Angus Battalions of the Black Watch who died in the Second World War . The memorial was originally situated to the north of Powrie Castle but was removed westwards to its present position when the A929 was re-aligned. Part of the original dais remains. Listed building record updated to include reference to H.H Martyn & Co. of Cheltenham (2023).
